[#GONEGREEN2016] DAY 37 - ECO DATE IDEAS IN PERTH BY ALISON OF ALLY BEE

I wrote an ode to designer Alison Baker's conscious collection of alpaca knitwear, Ally Bee, not so long ago after being lent nearly her entire collection for a photoshoot I was modelling in for Jshoes. Soon after I met her in person in Paris when she and her partner came down for a 350.org protest one the final day of #Cop21. We immediately got along, sharing a lot of the same views on sustainability and eco warrior-ship and I've been an advocate of both her and her brand ever since.

Alison currently lives in London, but comes from Perth, Australia. She's a former Lawyer who left her first career after discovering British alpaca fibre which lead her to create her sustainable luxury knitwear brand. Alison has kindly shared some eco + ethical date ideas for her hometown of Perth for any of you visiting or living in that wonderful western city!

- Eco Date Guide To Perth -

by Alison Baker of Ally-Bee

[TO DO]

After a  bask in the sun with lashings of sunscreen on any of Perth's extraordinarily beautiful windswept, white sand suburban beaches - Trigg, Scarborough and Cottesloe to name a few!

[TO EAT]

Perth is abundant in one fresh, fusion food joints but if you are looking for a strong sustainable angle, try City Farm CafĂ© in East Perth which is an open-air cafe located within the grounds of Perth’s only urban farm. With a 'paddock to plate' philosophy, all food is locally sourced from small producers and is super fresh and seasonal.

[TO DRINK]

For nightlife in downtown Perth, avoid the clubs and head to the pubs and you can't go wrong with the Mechanics Institute on William Street for a coldie with the hipsters, after the Mechanics, go across the road to kitsch Lucky Chan's Laundry & Noodle Bar for a gastronomic cocktail.

[EVENTS]

In the summer months - and these go on and on - make sure you catch a film at the Somerville Auditorium, an open-air theatre set amongst the trees in the vast grounds of the University Of Western Australia, and through February catch an event at the Perth Fringe Festival."

You can find Alison Baker's gorgeous collection of eco + ethical knitwear online at Ally-Bee.com
