#GoneGreen2016 | Day 233 | Cold Season | Natural Cough Syrup

Day 233 / 365

Since I moved to England in my late teens, Hot Toddy's have saved me throughout the cold season. When I was a kid we had these without the booze, but in London as the humid cold gets the better of your throat, head and chest, and you're forced to make it through a work day in an office, these babies can save you. Especially throughout the holiday season when hermitting away in your bed each night is no longer an option.

Hot Toddy's have been a cold season cure for generations, dating back to the 17th century, and while drinking booze while ill dehydrates and is not always the best solution, this is a natural source of temporary relief while you're in the thick of it, just like conventional cough syrup does.

NATURAL COUGH SYRUP
1 Teaspoon of Organic Honey or Agave Syrup (Honey works better for colds medicinally)
1 Shot of Whiskey, Rum, Scotch, or Brandy
1 Wedge of Lemon (juice)
Grated Ginger (to taste)
Cinnamon, Nutmeg and cloves to taste

Directions:
1.    Boil some water
2.    Place Numi's Breakfast Bland Tea, honey, whisky, lemon in a mug or heat-proof glass.
-->
3.    Pour the hot water in and stir until the honey melts
4.  Drink it up and enjoy the clear throat, chest and head. Less is more, so take 'er easy. Like conventional cough syrup it doesn't cure the cold, it reduces its side affects.
